What Is Advent Conspiracy?
The story of Christ’s birth is a story of promise, hope, and a revolutionary love.
Where did it go wrong? What was once a time to celebrate the birth of a Savior has somehow turned into a season of stress, traffic jams, and shopping lists? When it is all over, many of us are left with presents to return, looming debt that will take months to pay off, and an empty feeling of missed purpose. Is this what we really want out of Christmas? What if Christmas became a world-changing event once again? Welcome to Advent Conspiracy, a movement calling us to proclaim Christ in how we celebrate Christmas.
This year, let’s join together in worship that honors Christ not just in words, but in deeds of joyful sacrifice. Acts 1:8 is our mission mandate from scripture and can be interpreted as a strategic focus for geographic concern. Jesus said “…you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Here is how these geographic areas are represented for Advent Conspiracy at Trinity Church this year:
Our Jerusalem = Light & Power
Our Judea = Micah House & The Welcome Home Team
Our Samaria = Mexico (Hands of Mercy)
Ends of the Earth = Liberia (Ebola), Arab World (Arab Scripture Translation), Vietnam (Business)
The amount of funding goals determined for each project represents only a portion or percentage of the total amount needed for the participating organizations.
The gospel is our primary concern when considering which organizations we will support. There are many ‘good things’ that we can be involved in, but the ‘good news’ of Jesus Christ must be the main purpose as we seek to be a witness for our Lord. Each of these projects selected will provide support for on-going ministries, whose primary and ultimate goal is to demonstrate the gospel both in word and in deed.
** Our goal is to fully fund all of these projects. In order to accomplish this, once a project has reached its specific goal, the excess funds will be applied to another project within Advent Conspiracy. When the total goal has been reached, excess funds will be used to support other ongoing mission budget items at Trinity Church.
